So, acceptable ...They went skinny dipping early on. So, acceptable male nudity even in G-rated films at the time. (This was a "rural heritage" type thing, back before a mutually-agreed-upon revisionism had turned rural America into a homophobic mess.) Which The Reivers most certainly is not.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-814549419838495324.post-83497617910560491562013-02-21T16:25:59.577-05:002013-02-21T16:25:59.577-05:00You are correct, rear nudity for both. You are correct, rear nudity for both.NYSocBoyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06658785942817017972noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-814549419838495324.post-25926932983577248192013-02-21T15:49:32.233-05:002013-02-21T15:49:32.233-05:00I feel fairly confident that it was Steve McQueen ...I feel fairly confident that it was Steve McQueen in The Reivers, not Paul Newman. His star had definitely faded by the time I was old enough to know who he was, but I remember him in 'The Reivers' when it came on TV in the early 80s and I thought he was the cutest thing I'd ever seen (I had a thing for redheads).. It's been years since I've seen it, so I can't say if there was really any gay subtext, but for some reason I thought there was (it's weird the things that turn us on as kids).Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
