Adam Rickitt: British teen idol kisses two guys and pretends to be gay for 15 years. With Prince Harry and a n*de tiktok guy

The n*de male celebrity subreddit had a photo of "Hayden Swift, Aussie Tiktoker," but when I searched, I got:

1. A 20 year old student from the UK with 20 years experience as an educator.

2. Someone who says "If City don't find form soon, I find it hard to see them staying on top, Augero, Kompany, and DeBruyne are crucial to their success."

3. A highly accomplished manager from Costa Mesa, CA

4. Teen idol Adam Rickitt.

Must be his boyfriend.

First steps in finding out: who is Adam Rickitt, and is he gay?

According to the two articles I read, he's a singer.  Fans were 100% certain that he was gay after his single "I Breathe Again," but in 2014, he "scotched" the rumors, stating that he enjoys going to gay clubs and flirting with the gay guys, but he's straight.

You sound like a jerk, Adam, but if you came out as straight in 2014, you're probably not Hayden's boyfriend today.

My only question is: Why did fans find this song incontrovertable proof that Adam is gay?  No guy is mentioned in the lyrics.  In the music video, he's n*de in a cage, being examined by buxom lady doctors (crotch too dark to see anything).

Then he's put on an examination table, dressed, and brought back to life.  He leaves to scores of photographers, the ladies rubbing their fingers all over him.  Sounds straight to me.

Wait -- this guy is over 40!  When did the "I Breathe Again" song come out, anyway?

In 1999!  He was a teen idol in the era of the Backstreet Boys and New Kids on the Block.  Why have I never heard of him?

Answer after the break.

Adam was born in Crew, a railroad town in Cheshire, and worked as a model before auditioning for the soap Coronation Street.  He spent 276 episodes as the teen heartthrob Nick Tisley (1997-99, 2002, 2003-2004), with plotlines about falling for girls and figuring out who his real dad is.

In 2003, he had a semi-gay plotline: Todd Grimshaw (Bruno Langley) kissed him while he was sleeping (he did not return the affection).  Although the network was primed for endless pearl-clutching complaints over the "controversy," they got 16 out of 16 million viewers.

Going forward with other actors, Nick has the usual soap opera problems: multiple marriages and divorces, stealing 80,000 pounds, finding out that he has a son, getting brain damage from a lorry accident, getting trapped in quicksand.

Adam left Coronation Street in 1999 to start a musical career, but his first album only hit #41 on the UK charts (although "I Breathe Again" hit #5), so he was dumped by the record company.  Moving into theater he starred in Rent on the West End (playing a straight character), then Office Games, The Last Judgment, and Telstar before returning to the soap opera world.

Wait -- "I Breathe Again," the song that convinced everyone in Britain that you were gay, is from 1999.  You came out as straight in 2014.  That's 15 years of pretending to be gay, just for the fun of teasing gay guys?

Next up: the New Zealand soap Shortland Street: 580 episodes (2007-2010) as Kieran Mitchell, who has a brain tumor, discovers that he is really a pimp from Thailand, accidentally kills his mate, gets married a lot, and falls off a cliff.  This got him nominated for Best Actor and Sexiest Man in the 2010 TV Guide Best on the Box Awards.

Then it was backto the U.K. for his only movie, Whatever Happened to Pete Blaggitt (2012) and a career in politics, pushing to be promoted as a candidate for Parliament for the Conservative Party.

Don't worry, the British Conservative Party is not homophobic.  Adam even hosted a gay party at the Conservative Party Conference in Birmingham in 2010.

This is the period where Adam is supposedly "pretending to be gay" to fool gay guys. He really stayed in character.

He returned to soaps with Hollyoakes: 138 episodes (2017-2020) as Kyle Kelly, who has multiple sclerosis, is a drug dealer, and has ex girlfriends but comes out as gay, then has relationships with men and women, murders someone, becomes homeless, and so on.  At least he got a gay kiss from Ryan Knight (Duncan James), who was shocked when he read the script: "I didn't know they were going to turn my character kind of bisexual or gay."

Adam's most recent role is on the soap The Doctors (2023): he plays a university professor who thinks that students are trying to kill him, but they're actually just playing the game of Assassins.

Adam's Instagram is loaded down with pictures of hugging, kissing, and fondling his wife, plus a few demonstrating that she has big ____.  The only photos of gay interest are a few selfies and a calendar he sponsored with the men of Dexter & Jones (a craft beer pub in Cheshire) to support testicular cancer awareness.

This is not Adam, it's Prince Harry.  But he's advertising one of the gay bars where Adam spent 15 years "pretending."

Hayden, the Tiktoker who has a mysterious connection to Adam Rickitt.  Maybe he's pretending, too.
