Link to the n*de dudes
He was born in 2002 in Dungannon, Northern Ireland, about an hour's drive west of Belfast. While attending the Royal Schol Dungannon, he appeared in a number of plays at the Bardic Theater: Joseph & His Amazing Technicolour Dreamcoat, Wicked, Grease, and Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.
James made his film film debut in A Christmas Star (2016) as the best friend of a girl who thinks she can perform Christmas magic (of course, she can). It also stars Robert James-Collier.
Zoo (2017) is not to be confused with We Bought a Zoo (2011), starring Matt Damon: during the bombing of Belfast in 1941, Tom (Art Parkinson), the Girl of His Dreams, and his "misfit friends" (including James) try to save a baby elephant at the zoo. Stephen Hagen appears also.
Here's Looking at You, Kid (2018): Hubert (James) deals with tragedy by pretending to be a private detective.
More after the break
James graduated from the Royal School Dungannon in 2020, and enrolled at Queens University in Belfast. He was nervous about living on his own: he has several disabilities, including dwarfism, a missing right hand, hip and foot deformities, and scoliosis, so daily living can be a challenge, but his experience at Queens was "brilliant." They put him in the Elms Dorm for students with accessibility needs, and gave him a specially designed dorm room and bathroom, a parking pass, and a library aide.
In 2022, Michael Lennox, the director of Here’s Looking at You, Kid, was directing the series finale of Derry Girls, so he thought of James. The episode, "The Agreement," has two of the girls celebrating their 18th birthday on the day of the Good Friday Agreement, a 1998 multi-party attempt to end the Troubles in Northern Ireland.
Tomas (James) comes to the party and hangs with Jenny Joyce and her friends. Beneath an image of a muscle hunk -- subtle signal that he is gay.
She announces that if she does well on her A-level Exams, she can book the Val d'Isere ski resort, in the French Alps near Grenoble. Tomas agrees that it's a wonderful spot, "to die for," Dude is definitely gay.
Later, in the bedroom, James (Dylan Llewellyn) yells at Tomas for not having seen Cool Running (1993), about the Jamaican Olympic bobsledding team. Wait -- in the bedroom? His "we're on a break!' girlfriend Erin comes in and jealously asks "Who's this? Your new friend?"
"No!" Tomas exclaims. "Jenny sent me up here...um...to collect the glasses. Then he started going off on this stupid movie, which frankly is freaking me out!" Yeah, like she would send someone to the bedroom to collect glasses. You guys were going to make out, before James scared you with his aggressive movie mania.
I thought that Dylan Llewellyn starred in the post-Apocalyptic Daybreak with Cody Kearsley, but that was Colin Ford. Dylan is known for Derry Girls, Call the Midwife, and Big Boys (where he plays a gay guy, although he states emphatically that he is NOT GAY, all in caps). He is also known for showing us his d*ck in ladies underwear.
Our James' most recent role is in Episode 2.1 of Wednesday (2025): A new student at Nevermore Academy, Wednesday's brother Pugsley joins Caliban House, where they traditionally tell the story of the Skull Tree on the first night: a boy with a weak heart had only a few months to live, so he designed his own clockwork heart. It worked, but it made him cold and cruel. One night he died, and his body was buried under the Skull Tree. If you put your ear to the hole, you can hear his clockwork heart ticking. "So, who dares to go out and listen?" Pugsley is entranced, and sets out to do it.
Roland (James) listens to the story but does not speak, and does not appear in later scenes. Wednesday is filmed at Charleville Castle in Tullamore, about three hours by car from Belfast, so I guess it wasn't a major commitment, but still, one would hope for a bit of character development.
Disabled people often have trouble making romantic connections. Many potential partners reject them out of hand, and others are fetishists, turned on by their disability but not by the person. So they tend to avoid hookup sites, but I did find a disabled guy from James Madison College (n*de photo on RG Beefcake and Boyfriends) That's close.
Our James graduated from Queen's College in 2023 with a LL.B, Bachelor of Laws. In the U.K., law is an undergraduate degree, like history or biology; then you take an apprenticeship to become a solicitor (drawing up contracts and preparing for cases) or barrister (arguing cases in court). As of the summer of 2025, he is working as a Trainee Solicitor at an international law firm in Belfast.
I hope that won't keep him from seeking out more acting roles in the future.
