I got another guy on my Instagram recommendations who is very famous outside the U.S. but unknown here.  Actually, two guys: Alan Carr (middle) and Oliver Sawell (left).  Here they are being interviewed by Chatty Man. The question: "Would you eat a brussels sprout curry?"

Alan is a comedian and presenter with over 200 appearances on British tv, beginning in 2002.  A few that stand out: The Law of the Playground, 8 of 10 Cats, Jool's Hootenany, The Friday Night Project, Spexy Beast Live...

Yep, Alan is gay.  His ex-husband is comedy writer Paul Drayton, whose Ride or Die Trying was published in 2026. 

I'm surprised that a gay person is such a major media figure, but maybe Britain is a little less homophobic than the States.

In 2023-2026, Alan narrated Changing Ends, an autobiographical comedy about growing up gay and femme in the 1980s.  He starts out unaware of the existence of gay people, but soon figures it out. There are plotlines about coming out and getting a boyfriend.

Shaun Dooley (right) plays his macho Dad, who manages a 4th Division football club, and wants Alan to become a footballer, too.

I couldn't begin to profile Alan Carr in 12 photos and 300 words, so I'll profile Oliver, who plays the young Alan.

The bald dude is Richard Franks, host of Enquiries, interviewing the super-famous 16-year old: Royal Television Society Award, nominated for two BAFTAs, presenter at the British Soap Awards and the National Television Awards.

He was born in Farnham, Surrey, one of those quaint English villages with cobbled streets, a castle, and...um...Domino's Pizza.

 Alfie Williams, the star of 28 Years Later and 28 Years Later: Bone Temple,  always seems to surround himself with LGBTQ people; I get a lot of profile ideas just by checking who he's hanging out with.  His social media has been sort of dry for several months, so I was happy to see this photo posted earlier today (August 2026): Alfie at the new Spider-Man movie with three guys, with the background song "In Bloom," by Nirvana:

I have a pretty good idea what it means: Looks like a double date.  But even if it's four buds hanging out, it gives me three new probably-gay guys to research.

A Hawaiian actor of Filipino ancestry, the 13-year old is best known as Demi Hauntley, an over-zealous 600-year old ghost sent to assist the vampire girl in live-action Vampirina (2025).  Fans say he's a gay stereotype.

Is that a pink triangle, babe?  Do you even know what it means?

Milo also played Gavrouche in the national tour of Les Miserables, starred in several shorts and the Filipino slasher-comedy Nurse of the Dead, and will be skewered by gay actor Jeff Hilliard in a chicken costume in the upcoming Cluck.  Cameron Cowperthwaite (n*de on RG Beefcake and Boyfriends) also gets to run around like a chicken with its head cut off.

When he's not singing, dancing, and acting, Milo quotes Aristotle, likes Buster Keaton, and has a hot dad.  On the IMDB, his s*xual orientation is listed as "straight," but that's probably from his parents.  .

The 15-year old actor from Newcastle-upon-Tyne played Spike in the post-Apocalyptic zombie movies 28 Years Later (2025) and 28 Years Later: Bone Temple (2026).  He has two upcoming movies:

The Banquet; A woman's perfect life starts to unravel when her son (Alfie) returns and starts digging up horrifying family secrets.

Friend Thing: In 1996 Seattle, a "sensitive" 14-year old boy (Alfie) is torn between his friends and The Girl, before "a family tragedy shifts his perspective."   

Wait -- "sensitive" is code for "gay," and why are there no teenage boys in the cast list for him to be friends with?

Spider-Man: Brand New Day: Spidey flexes, visits a bathhouse, and brings a guy flowers. But it's not what you think.

 Marvel Cinematic Universe movies are not great at LGBT representation, and for some reason Spider-man movies are the worst of the lot: "Like all stories, and I mean every single story that has ever been told from Gilgamesh on to the present, including Death in Venice, The City and the Pillar, Call Me By Your Name, and Heartstopper, this story is about a boy and a girl."   So I went into Spider-Man: Brand New Day expecting to hear "feminine smiles are the meaning of life!" every few minutes.

I wasn't wrong.

There are three plotlines that actually could be three separate movies.

Plot #1: In the last movie, Spidey, aka Peter Parker (Tom Holland), zapped the memories of his True Love MJ and buddy Ned to "keep them safe."  Now he's living as a full-time superhero, ignoring the advice of his supervisor and the superhero Black Widow that he should get a girlfriend. 

Suddenly his powers start accelerating, giving him Hulk-style Roid Rage, but his web things fail to work at the most awkward moments.  He needs a device to inhibit some of his spider DNA while allowing the rest of it to keep giving him superpowers.  So he seeks out Incredible Hulk Bruce Banner (Mark Ruffalo, n*de on RG Beefcake and Boyfriends), who teaches at Empire State University.

Hulky has lost his True Love.

Cliche alert: The Advanced Physics class is held in a giant lecture hall, like all college classes in movies.

Plot #2: 

After interrogating the various people who helped the Supervillain Scorpion (Michael Mando) escape, Spidey realizes that they're dealing with a being who can jump from mind to mind, peering into their memories and controlling their actions.  They're interested in getting access to a secret vault at the Damage Control headquarters (where they clean up the damage caused by superhero fights, including a lot of superpower-enhancing detritus).  

Eventually the being occupies the mind of Spidey's True Love MJ, and threatens to drop her off a building her unless he helps with their goal.  But some of the stuff at Damage Control could hurt millions of people, so Spidey refuses.

I've been researching the actors who played Billy and Tommy, sons of the Scarlet Witch Wanda Maximoff in Marvel comics and tv shows.   They grow up to be superheroes Wiccan (gay) and Speed (bi), so did the casting agents make sure that the actors playing them were gay/bi, too?  

Teenagers: Joe Locke and Ruaridh Mollica (below).  Both gay.

Tweens: Julian Hillard and Jett Kyte (left). Both probably gay.

Kids: Baylen Bielitz (right) and Gavin Borders.

I doubt that the casting agents were specifically looking for gay actors to play the preteen Billy and Tommy. They might not even be aware that LGBT kids exist.  But they if they were looking for resemblance to the older actors, they might ping on a gay vibe, or ask if Mom and Dad would object to their kid playing gay.  We'll start with Baylen Bielitz, five-year old Billy (the future Wiccan) on Wandavision.

Baylen was born in Southington, about 20 miles from Hartford, Connecticut, in May 2014.  He expressed an interest in acting and dancing when he was five years old, so his parents entered him into a local acting competition.  He won and got an agent, who started sending out video audition tapes (this was during the pandemic).  

 On his sixth birthday in May 2020, Baylen posts "It's my b-day, dance with me," noting that he always was inspired by Derek Hough.

Actor/dancer/choreographer Derek Hough, is straight, but he has played gay characters and fought for LGBT representation on Dancing with the Stars. He performed in the first male-male duo on the show, in December 2024.

A few days later, Bay got word that he had been cast as  Billy Maximoff.  Directly from kindergarten to the Marvel Cinematic Universe!  In the summer of 2020, he and his mom drove to Atlanta to film his scenes. 

I doubt that he knew the entire biography of Wiccan when he auditioned, but he does now.

Other on-screen roles came quickly.

2021:

He appears in The Gilmore Girls on stage and in several tv commercials.

Plus he gets to pose (or photoshop-pose) with Tom Holland's Spider-Man (n*de photo of Tom Holland on RG Beefcake and Boyfriends).

 2022:

He plays Younger Boy to Lucas Luchsinger's Older Boy in A Better Half (2022), a short about a man confronting his demons. 

Left: Lucas is now in college.  Most recently he starred in Antigone.

In an episode of Evil, about a team of Catholic exorcists, Bay and Robbie Crandall play brothers who are being bedeviled by a demon.  Or is it their mom, trying to push up the subscribers to her social media channel?  

The Noel Diary stars Justin Hartley as Jake Turner, a driven big city corporate type who returns to his small home town for Christmas and...well, it's the plot of every Christmas romcom ever.  Bay plays his younger brother in a flashback sequence.
