Lincoln Younes: The C*A*U*G*H*T big guy plays troubled teens, a boxer, a surfer, and a sleuth, but are any of them gay? Or gay-positive?

Link to the d*cks

Everybody's seen that scene from C*A*U*G*H*T, the Australian comedy where four guys are captured by the baddies and tied up en evocative poses.

It's obviously homophobic, meant to humiliate them by emulating gay stuff ("I'd rather die than touch his junk!")

I wanted to see if the owner of the enormous d*ck, Lincoln Younes, has redeemed himself by starring in anything gay positive.

The Lebanese-Australian actor was born in Sydney in 1992, and grew up in Bendigo, Victoria, about two hours from Melbourne.  He was originally planning to become a professional soccer player, but after playing Peter Pan in the Global Rock Eisteddfod Challenge in Japan in 2006, he realized that he preferred acting, and enrolled in a weekend course, "A Young Actors Studio."

While still in secondary school, he appeared in City Homicide, Locker, The Wedding Party, and 22 episodes of the soap Tangle as troubled teen Romeo Kovac (a role which got him an ASTRA Award)

Lincoln started college at the University of Melbourne, but dropped out after six months to join the soap Home and Away as Casey:  a member of the River Boys gang, along with his brothers Brax and Heath (Steve Peacock, Dan Ewing).  The epitome of teen angst" stayed for 578 episodes (2011-14) and five girlfriends.

Dan Ewing's bottom is on RG Beefcake and Boyfriends

Home and Away has had very few queer characters during its 38 year run, and they are always very short lived, yanked due to  protests from homophobic Australians.  Funny, I always thought that Australia was more gay-friendly than the U.S.

Lincoln's next significant project was Grand Hotel (2020), a tv series set in a Miami Beach resort. He plays Danny Garibaldi, a "handsome and charming" young man who takes a job at the hotel to find out what happened to his missing sister. And gets a girlfriend.  And apparently takes up boxing.

Left: Lincoln with Shalim Ortiz, who plays the hotel manager.  He's gay, but I don't think he dates Danny.

More after the break

More tv series followed:

Barons (2022): Best friends build s
urfing brands in the 70s, including  Lincoln (left) and  Ben O'Toole, who would star with him in C*A*U*G*H*T.  There's also a queer woman character.

After the Verdict (2022): four jurors, including Lincoln and Magda Szubanski, who plays a queer character, conduct their own investigation to find out whodunit.

C*A*U*G*H*T
(2023): four Australian soldiers go on a secret mission to the war-torn island of Behati-Prinloo, where they are captured by "freedom fighters."  They release a homemade hostage video that goes viral.

All straight.

Last King of the Cross (2023-4):  In the 1990s, nightclub owner John Ibrahim (Lincoln) and his brother fight for control of Oxford Street. In Season 2, his opponent is Ray Kinnock (Naveen Andrews, butt left), who owns a queer nightclub.  They both fight dirty.  It's not available for streaming in the U.S., and there don't seem to be any clips, so I can't tell if the portrayal is homophobic.

Lincoln's Instagram is noncommittal.  No guy- or girl-hugging except photos that he specifies are "friends," drag twice, best man at friends' weddings twice.  He calls Fayssal Bazzi "my habibi," "darling" or "sweetheart" in Arabic, but the term can be used for pals.  But the tabloids say he's dating Last King co-star Courtney Cox, and they have a child.

I'm going to go with straight.

Do the gay-adjacent roles and his d*ck make up for his homophobic set piece?  No. Especially since, on closer examination, I'm pretty sure it's prosthetic.

I should have done Ben O'Toole, the one who is looking askew at the c*ck.  At least he hugs Epine Bob Savea in Nekotonic (2018).
