Tyler Alvarez: The "Witch Way" chuy and "American Vandal" p*nis investigator is wild about girls. And a homos*xual. His word, not mine.

In Ghosts Episode 2.20 (2023), the attic ghost Stephanie, a teenager murdered on her prom night in 1987, learns that her crush Trevor (Asher Grodman) is dating someone else (he's not interested anyway, since she's 17, and he died at age 33).   The irate Stephanie schemes to break up all of the "happy couples" at Woodstone. This doesn't work, of course, and basement ghost Nancy saves the day by introducing her to teenage cholera victim Ralph (Tyler Alvarez).

Wow, cute face and an insouciant tease of a muscular chest. He's getting a closer look.

Tyler was born in 1997 in the Bronx.  His first major screen role was in the Nickelodeon telenovela Every Witch Way (2014-15).  Focus character Emma discovers that she is a witch (and the Chosen One, naturally).  She has various teen angst and Harry Potter-style adventures, and is torn between two boys: the rebellious, "arrogant" wizard Jax (Rahart Adams) and the responsible but human Daniel (Nick Merico)

Tyler plays Diego, a chuy (magical being who can control the Four Elements).  He has an on-off girlfriend, but he also has a gay-subtext buddy-bond with Mac (Mavrick Moreno), at least before the showrunners noticed and wrote him out of the story.

Not a bad start.

Next came The Fosters, about a family of foster and adopted children.  In Season 5 (2018), he played Declan Rivers, an online gamer who starts flirting with Jude (Hayden Byerly), causing tension with his boyfriend Noah (Kalama Epstein).

American Vandal
(2017-18) sounds like it's about the Vandals motorcycle gang, but actually some high school vandals painted p*nises on 27 teachers' cars.  Journalists Peter (Tyler) and Sam (Griffin Gluck) investigate the crime.

I figured that they must have a gay-subtext buddy bond, but according to Reddit, there is an animosity between them, and one turns out to be the culprit.

More after the break

Left: Jimmy Tatro plays the main suspect, class clown Dylan (backside on RG Beefcake and Boyfriends).

Orange is the New Black (2015-19): Tyler plays Benny Mendoza, son of inmate Gloria, in six episodes: he gets into fights, uses drugs, and is critically injured.  Gloria tries to resolve the hostage crisis so she can get furlough to visit him in the hospital. Probably straight.

Never Have I Ever (2021): Tyler plays high school jock Malcolm Stone in five episodes.  According to the fan wiki, he's "toxic, selfish, arrogant, and narcissistic."  He has a girlfriend.

Things are looking bad for you, buddy.  One gay character followed by a lot of straight and probably-straight guys.

Tyler's most recent movie is Pools (2025), starring Odessa A'zion, Stephanie in the Ghosts episode. They must have started dating during the filming.  She plays Kennedy, whose life is falling apart, so she reconnects with her dead father and gathers some buds to invade the pools on the "elegant estates" of her college town.  College towns have elegant estates?

The trailer shows three boys and three girls.  Mason Gooding (right) ends up with Ariel Winter (of Modern Family).

Tyler plays the "I can't go; I have to re-arrange my sock drawer" superego; Odessa cuddles in bed with him but has an in-pool heart-to-heart with Michael Vlamis (n*de on RG Beefcake and Boyfriends), so I can't tell if he's a gay bff or a romantic partner.

Tyler's Instagram is entirely "girls! girls! girls!"  One photo, taken in Split, Croatia, shows him gazing at an unidentified guy in what looks like a romantic pose.  But otherwise it's girls all the way down.  Dude is obviously straight...

Wait -- according to the American Vandals fan wiki, Tyler is "openly gay."  I hate that expression.  According to his wikipedia page, he came out on social media on June 11, 2021.

The social media is an Instagram post, where he wishes "Happy pride to my fellow homos*xuals."  I hate that word even more.  You say "homosexual" when you want to scream about abominations in the eyes of God, or guilt-ridden lurkers in the shadows, not the gay guys next door.

How could he possibly be gay...um..homos*xual?   Check his Instagram:

Tyler and a girl trying to lick each other.
Laughing together, and hugging.  Frolicking in the pool with a girl.
She tries to eat his head.  Not what that expression means.

Posing with two girls in revealing clothes
With a girl making duck lips
Dinner with two elegantly dressed women.

With three girls
With a girl, both sticking their tongues out.
Cuddling with "a beautiful lady"
"A beautiful lady" has her head on his shoulder
Kissing a woman's neck
A girl trying to suck out his brains.

Most gay men prefer the company of men, but some want to spend all their time with women.  I don't get it, but I know that it happens.  But if these girls are just very close friends, why the excessive displays of heteros*xual interest?

I didn't look for n*de photos.  I was too annoyed by an aggressively straight gay guy.  Sorry, I mean homos*xual.  I'll just find a n*de Hispanic guy in my files.
