Gregg Sulkin: The Disney Channel werewolf plays a huge number of hetero hunks, hangs with girls, but shows gay fans his abs and other stuff

You remember Gregg Sulkin as Mason Greyback, a werewolf who dates teen wizard Alex (a girl) in Seasons 3-4 in the Wizards of Waverly Place (2010-2012).  Wizards had no open gay content, but there were lots of subtexts, including Selena Gomez playing Alex as bisexual ("but we couldn't say anything).  And a lot of beefcake: David Henrie, Dan Benson, the up-and-coming Jake T. Austin.

You might expect Gregg to get lost among all of the muscle-hunks, but he found ways to stand out.

The 22 year old British actor had already made a splash back home, playing teen hunks on As the Bell Rings, The Sarah Jane Adventures, and Avalon High, and he went on to more hunk roles:

The boyfriend of Lennox (a girl) on Melissa and Joey (2012)

Ezra's younger brother, who crushes on his girlfriend, in Pretty Little Liars (2012-13)

Superhero Chase Stein, who gets a girlfriend, in Marvel's Runaways (2017-2019).

Pretty Smart
(2021): it's a sitcom.  He takes his shirt off.  What more do you need to know?

More after the break

Gregg has appeared as gay or gay-adjacent characters several times:

White Frog (2012): After his brother dies (the first rule of fiction: somebody always dies), neurodivergent Nick discovers that he was gay, which horrifies him and "shatters his world." Friggin' homophobe!   He eventually comes around. Gregg plays the late brother's boyfriend.

In Faking It (2014-16), about two straight girls who pretend to be a lesbian couple to get all of the prestige and privilege that comes from...um... having preachers yell that you're an abomination and getting arrested for holding hands...Gregg plays Liam, who starts an affair with one of the girls.

Status Update (2018) stars Ross Lynch as a teenager who finds a "magical app" that grants wishes.  He uses it to win the Girl of His Dreams.  According to Out Magazine, Gregg plays a footballer who pretend to be gay, but the plot synopsis mentions a gay footballer who pretends to be straight.

Most of Gregg's movie and tv roles have involved hugging, kissing, and hanging with girls.  This person may be dressed as a boy, but they're a girl.

And it's hard to find a photo on Gregg's social media where he doesn't have a girl hanging on him.  Here's one: "the fellas," Jake Short and Lorenzo Henrie (David's brother).

But he's a gay ally.  He showed his abs on the cover of Gay Times in 2016, hoping that they would help young people realize that it's ok to be gay.  Most likely by the time you get around to reading Gay Times, you've already figured it out.

He also referred to himself as a "bottom."  I think with straight guys it's called pegging.

And he's got an adult video and a possible selfie online for the aesthetic pleasure of his gay fans.
